Mom Saturdays

4:33 a.m.: Hear babies crying. I give them a bottle and then go back to sleep.

8:15 a.m.: Hear babies playing. Hubby takes them downstairs and I take a shower. Babies eat breakfast and then I set up the room we are going to take their pictures in.

9:00 a.m.: Babies are wearing their "1" onesies and we make a miserable attempt at taking pictures. The babies are all over the place, mostly wanting to climb out the window. We strip them and give them their cake to tear into. I know, cake at 9:30 a.m. for babies is a total Parent Fail. Here is a little peek, you will have to see the rest on the big day!

9:30 a.m.: The place is completely destroyed with cake and babies must have a bath.

10:00 a.m.: I have a mini-breakdown at how blurry the pictures came out after all that work. How the hell did that happen? I begin to contemplate taking them into a professional for the pictures but then decide I don't really want to pay someone to watch my kids have a tantrum.

10:15 a.m.: Hubby leaves to go do a job and the babies and I play on the back deck. They start having fits so I give them bottles and we get in bed together. They misinterpret this as play time so I put them in their cribs and go downstairs. Silence, nice.

10:45 a.m.: I hear screaming. I find out this is not screaming of wanting to get out of the cribs and avoid a nap, it is screaming of sheer delight. They are looking at each other and squealing at the top of their lungs and then JUMPING on the bed. What? They can't walk but they can jump up and down. I tell myself this is not cute, it's naughty, SO naughty, but really I think it's adorable. I begin to wonder what the "terrible 2's" will be like when this is how they are at 11 months. Ouch!

11:06 a.m.: Screaming has ceased and monkeys are passed out. What to do? For once I am prodcutive. I finish a flower hair bow, I do some laundry and pack away my winter clothes. I also watch Teen Mom and mess around on the internet.

12:30 p.m.: Babies wake up and are in a good mood. We play outside and eat some lunch of the culinary delight, macaroni and cheese.

My son currently has Justin Bieber hair. I need to get it cut, but I am scared. Of what, I don't know, but I just can't do it yet.

1:30 p.m.: Hubby still isn't home from working so we decide to load up and go to Sam's Club to order a cake for next Friday's baby shower. Ever waves at everyone who passes by her and cracks them up. Some people ask if they can take pictures of them. I am a tad bit ashamed because they are dirty as hell and Ocean even has some macaroni encrusted in his hair. I always think they are cleaned up until we get out in public and then they look homeless!

2:30 p.m.: We head home to get Hubby so we can go to a children's farm together. We have so much fun!

Ever loves animals. We show her the goats and she calls everything a doggy (her favorite word). I am asking her "what is that baby, what is that?" in my baby voice when a little 3 year old comes up to tell me that it's a goat. Ha ha. Poor thing was concerned I was a total moron. The babies splish splash in a mine. They are seriously pissing off a kid who is trying to find gold while they splash joyfully in the water. We move on.

4:30 p.m.: We get back home and Hubby says he needs to do stuff. Monkey's and I play out back. We catch a glimpse of the wagon they got for Christmas and go for a mile walk. I take a moment to be thankful that we are so lucky to live by the little park and pond with the walking trail. We pass a lemonade stand and the kid says "dude, there's knats in the lemonade." I give them a dollar but politely decline the lemonade.

5:30 p.m.: Babies are fussy, especially Ever so we eat dinner which consists of a hot dog, grapes, cheese, and orange. Ocean eats like a piggy and Ever isn't into oranges. Ever throws a tantrum.

5:50 p.m.: We climb up the stairs. Ever throws another tantrum. We play around for awhile and then go downstairs.

6:30 p.m.: Hubby comes in for a quick break so I run and get a nutritious dinner of hamburgers and ice cream. Ever throws yet another tantrum, she is obviously exhausted beyond belief.

7:45 p.m.: Hubby goes back outside to mow but I go ahead and give the babies a bath on my own because they are filthy and I am one more Ever tantrum away from the looney bin. I manuever getting them out of the bath myself and we laugh and play together and the twins are looking at each other in the sweetest way. I pick up Ever to go get something from the hall closet and accidentally hit her against the wall. She throws a tantrum and I feel like the worst mom on the planet.

Justin Bieber waiting for his turn to get into the bath.

8:10 p.m.: Hubby comes in. I do not wait for him to shower before turning off all the lights and giving the babies a bottle. They pass out in minutes.

8:30 p.m.: I am exhausted. I start putting things away and then come to finish this. My bedtime goal is 10:00 p.m. because I need to get up to run 5 miles in the morning before Hubby has to leave on more errands and we have a birthday party in the afternoon.

  4. The farm looks like it was so cool! You do an awesome job of fitting in fun family stuff on the weekends!! The boots and hair bow - adorable!!!!!

I was so scared to get Carl's haircut the first time, too. Then, after I did it, I really felt he looked more babyish -and that made me happy! He was 20 months old.

Can't wait to see more of the cake shots!!
