Mondays

A big change in our routine is quickly approaching with the transition into daycare. I have to admit that I've fallen back on my Mom quite a bit. If we had a rough night, I can sleep for an hour in the morning and she can take them (she stays in our home). When I need to get ready I just run up the stairs and they are in good hands.

On Friday evenings my mom leaves to go and stay with my Grandma. She used to come back Sunday, but now she comes back on Monday morning not long before I head into work and it has given me a good look at what each day will be like in a few months.

This morning Peanut woke up at 6 and got in my bed with a bottle. Then Ocean woke up at 8:30 and we all went downstairs after playing screaming chase in the bed. I'm not sure why, but we must always have screaming and squealing these days. We played, changed diapers and ate breakfast. I had to get in the shower so I put a bunch of toys in the crib for them to stay there while I showered. Of course they were both standing up and waiting for me as soon as I got out. Because I have been so spoiled, they are not used to not having all my attention and waiting for me to get done. Needless to say, getting ready takes much longer than it used to. Ever has been ridiculously clingy to me the last few days so I had to hold her at all times. I try to think of myself as someone who is a little open and free spirited, but wandering around topless while holding my child is not my idea of a good time.

Grandma arrived to the rescue about 10 minutes before I needed to leave. I got in the car and noticed there was a gigantic something flying around. I was running behind and couldn't stop and my shoes have ankle straps so I looked around for the nearest weapon. I chucked a snack pack of hummus and killed it! Just as I was so impressed with myself and my amazing ninja skills I dribbles protein shake down my shirt.

Now, while this all may seem like a hot mess, I was quite proud of myself. I have secretly been worried that I will be a miserable failure at this working mom stuff, but I get a lot of satisfaction out of doing it myself. I'm sure the novelty will wear off when it is something that we do constantly, but for now I am proud of the way we roll, Ocean, Ever and me.

Mom Saturdays

4:33 a.m.: Hear babies crying. I give them a bottle and then go back to sleep.

8:15 a.m.: Hear babies playing. Hubby takes them downstairs and I take a shower. Babies eat breakfast and then I set up the room we are going to take their pictures in.

9:00 a.m.: Babies are wearing their "1" onesies and we make a miserable attempt at taking pictures. The babies are all over the place, mostly wanting to climb out the window. We strip them and give them their cake to tear into. I know, cake at 9:30 a.m. for babies is a total Parent Fail. Here is a little peek, you will have to see the rest on the big day!

9:30 a.m.: The place is completely destroyed with cake and babies must have a bath.

10:00 a.m.: I have a mini-breakdown at how blurry the pictures came out after all that work. How the hell did that happen? I begin to contemplate taking them into a professional for the pictures but then decide I don't really want to pay someone to watch my kids have a tantrum.

10:15 a.m.: Hubby leaves to go do a job and the babies and I play on the back deck. They start having fits so I give them bottles and we get in bed together. They misinterpret this as play time so I put them in their cribs and go downstairs. Silence, nice.

Photobucket

10:45 a.m.: I hear screaming. I find out this is not screaming of wanting to get out of the cribs and avoid a nap, it is screaming of sheer delight. They are looking at each other and squealing at the top of their lungs and then JUMPING on the bed. What? They can't walk but they can jump up and down. I tell myself this is not cute, it's naughty, SO naughty, but really I think it's adorable. I begin to wonder what the "terrible 2's" will be like when this is how they are at 11 months. Ouch!

11:06 a.m.: Screaming has ceased and monkeys are passed out. What to do? For once I am prodcutive. I finish a flower hair bow, I do some laundry and pack away my winter clothes. I also watch Teen Mom and mess around on the internet.

12:30 p.m.: Babies wake up and are in a good mood. We play outside and eat some lunch of the culinary delight, macaroni and cheese.

My son currently has Justin Bieber hair. I need to get it cut, but I am scared. Of what, I don't know, but I just can't do it yet.

1:30 p.m.: Hubby still isn't home from working so we decide to load up and go to Sam's Club to order a cake for next Friday's baby shower. Ever waves at everyone who passes by her and cracks them up. Some people ask if they can take pictures of them. I am a tad bit ashamed because they are dirty as hell and Ocean even has some macaroni encrusted in his hair. I always think they are cleaned up until we get out in public and then they look homeless!

2:30 p.m.: We head home to get Hubby so we can go to a children's farm together. We have so much fun!

Ever loves animals. We show her the goats and she calls everything a doggy (her favorite word). I am asking her "what is that baby, what is that?" in my baby voice when a little 3 year old comes up to tell me that it's a goat. Ha ha. Poor thing was concerned I was a total moron. The babies splish splash in a mine. They are seriously pissing off a kid who is trying to find gold while they splash joyfully in the water. We move on.

4:30 p.m.: We get back home and Hubby says he needs to do stuff. Monkey's and I play out back. We catch a glimpse of the wagon they got for Christmas and go for a mile walk. I take a moment to be thankful that we are so lucky to live by the little park and pond with the walking trail. We pass a lemonade stand and the kid says "dude, there's knats in the lemonade." I give them a dollar but politely decline the lemonade.

5:30 p.m.: Babies are fussy, especially Ever so we eat dinner which consists of a hot dog, grapes, cheese, and orange. Ocean eats like a piggy and Ever isn't into oranges. Ever throws a tantrum.

5:50 p.m.: We climb up the stairs. Ever throws another tantrum. We play around for awhile and then go downstairs.

6:30 p.m.: Hubby comes in for a quick break so I run and get a nutritious dinner of hamburgers and ice cream. Ever throws yet another tantrum, she is obviously exhausted beyond belief.

7:45 p.m.: Hubby goes back outside to mow but I go ahead and give the babies a bath on my own because they are filthy and I am one more Ever tantrum away from the looney bin. I manuever getting them out of the bath myself and we laugh and play together and the twins are looking at each other in the sweetest way. I pick up Ever to go get something from the hall closet and accidentally hit her against the wall. She throws a tantrum and I feel like the worst mom on the planet.

Justin Bieber waiting for his turn to get into the bath.

8:10 p.m.: Hubby comes in. I do not wait for him to shower before turning off all the lights and giving the babies a bottle. They pass out in minutes.

8:30 p.m.: I am exhausted. I start putting things away and then come to finish this. My bedtime goal is 10:00 p.m. because I need to get up to run 5 miles in the morning before Hubby has to leave on more errands and we have a birthday party in the afternoon.

Two Weeks

Two weeks.

14 days.

336 hours.

In two weeks my babies will be one! ONE YEAR OLD!

This is crazy. On one hand I can't believe they are already one. On the other hand, it seems like I was pregnant and going in for my c-section in another lifetime. I can hardly remember it. My life before the babies? I have no idea what it was.

This also means that two weeks from tomorrow is the big birthday party. I have a million things to do before then. Supplies, food, decorations, activities, oh my! I am also training for the 10K I will be running April 30th and throwing a small baby shower next week. Yes, you did read that correctly, I, the infertile nutbag, am throwing a baby shower. Welcome to the flip side.

I'm about to be the mom of toddlers. Weird.

P.S. Pardon me as I play with making the photos a larger. These are too large but I don't want to redo them because I'm lazy. Also, when I resize them they always lose their quality. I use photobucket. Any tips??

Relapse

Hubby has been going into the babies room each night that they cry and occasionally giving them a bottle and then leaving. They eat it and go back to sleep.

The other night hubby seemed unwilling to go give Osh his bottle. I put on my big girl panties at one in the morning and took one into him. Hubby assured me that each night he did this they would take the bottle and go to sleep.

Nope. Not for mama.

Ocean threw the bottle down and cried harder when I left. I went back in. I know that I should not get him out of the crib, that's the cardinal sin of getting babies to sleep all night.

I said a little prayer that the thing wouldn't break and crawled right into the crib with him. He snuggled up to me and passed out in a matter of minutes.

Babies are like sedatives so his warm little body, his little baby snore, and his sweet smell put me to sleep. I woke up at 2:30 curled into a ball in a crib at the age of 27. Not good.

The next morning Ever woke up at 7:00 a.m. which is good so I got up and put her in my bed. Usually we play, but we both passed out and slept until 9:00!

I guess we all just needed some snuggles and rest, but I was naughty. So naughty. Sleep training is just not my thing, but at the same time, I love it! One night can't be that bad right?

In other news, we decided on a little play cottage for the babies for their birthday. We set it up in the living room just to see how big it would end up being. The babies loved it! Their favorite thing? Slamming the door! It is not in a box patiently waiting until the big day in just a few weeks!

Mom Saturdays

6:21 a.m.: Hear two babies crying and decide it's too early to get up. We make bottles and put them both in the bed and snuggle.

8:15 a.m.: Babies officially wake up so it's time to go downstairs to eat and play. Breakfast is banana, strawberry and french toast waffles.

9:00 a.m.: Hubby goes to do a job and I retrieve the monkeys from the dog kennel. I then put them in the office chair and spin them around a few times while they scream with delight! We get dressed and leave together.

9:30 a.m.:
Make a deposit at the bank while Ever sings to the music and the teller laughs.

9:40 a.m.: Run two miles with the babies and my lover, BOB.

10:00 a.m.: Play at the park. I have a chat with a mom and dad who are there with their 6 year old boy/girl twins. They tell me all about the local MOMs group and how I should join. I'm not a joiner, but I smile and nod. They tell me other things too about having twins and it is nice. They also have a 4 year old.

11:00 a.m.: We go to Hobby Lobby because I need to make another tutu. Instead of getting my lover BOB out, I decide just to stick them both in a Hobby Lobby cart, which in case you didn't know, are like mini carts. The babies fight and scream because they are crawling all over each other. I go to the flower aisle so that they can stick their hands in lots of stuff. Sorry Hobby Lobby.

11:30 a.m.: Go home to see hubby who is working in the yard. We play on the back deck awhile and then have lunch of baby puffs, applesauce and a hot dog. Ever and I take a nap and hubby and Ocean go to the hospital to visit his Grandma.

Photobucket

3:30 p.m.: We play around for awhile.

4:30 p.m.: We decide we are going to leave the house again and the monkeys need changed. I change them and then myself. While I am away they have a great time tag teaming the toilet paper in the bathroom. Ocean is whining his butt off because he needs a nap.

5:30 p.m.: We arrive at Toys R Us for one year old birthday shopping. Osh is finally asleep. We put him in his carseat in the cart and Ever in the seat. Ever turns around to rock Osh in his carset a few times and it is so cute. We let her play on some different toys and then we go to Walmart.

6:30 p.m.: We all eat at Granite City. It is delicious! The babies eat bread, grapes, cantaloupe (they didn't love it) and grilled cheese. They start having a screaming match with each other which is embarassing so I take Ocean outside.

8:30 p.m.: We are at home and it is bath time. The babies enjoy it as always! We used to do baths every other night but now we do them every night as part of their routine.

9:00 p.m.: Babies pass out with a bottle.

11:15 p.m.: Hubby and I go to bed after two episodes of Big Love. We are both exhausted.

I love my weekend days with the babies! I love how they are growing so much and enjoying so many new things. We've been working on walking with them because they have to be walking to go to the daycare we want them to, but they aren't in it 100% yet.
