New Reading Material Please

I need some more blog reading to satisfy my intense voyeurism please.

I would like you to help me find some suggestions.

Here is what types of things I'm looking for:

1. Funny mostly, but not always.

2. Realistic. I'm not into those always happy and philosophical types who are crapping rainbows and think everyone should be grateful and thrilled all the time. I don't want to hear about how your cup of coffee made you realize how wonderful your life is. Boring.

3. I like nice pictures.

4. No pretentious mothering please. Ick, so gross. I don't want to read constant advice from others about why they are such wonderful parents. And usually those parents are the same as the rest of us, except more obsessive and neurotic.

That's about it! If you have suggestions, or even think your own blog fits the bill, comment it, I want to read it!

  1. Lately I've been lurking a lot on Veronica, M.D. (recently aka Chunky Monkey). MD is from her last names (maiden and married) but she also claims she has a doctorate in awesome. I don't have the heart to tell her that if she had a doctorate in awesome it wouldn't be a medical degree so she would be Veronica, PhD. Also, that would make me look like a total asshole and nerd. Anyway, where was I... she writes about her 1.5-year old daughter, craft stuff she does that I am totally jealous of, recipes, etc. I find her pretty funny. You might like it. Lots of pics and she posts pretty often.

  4. Have you ever read www.bebehblog.com? It fits what you said exactly.

  5. You can come over to mine? Sometimes I can be a bit #4ish, but I try to keep it real. I also complain a lot. :)

  7. I follow YoungHouseLove.com everyday - it's mostly house & decorating stuff, though. :) They do have a YoungHouseLife.com as well, but I don't read that as much.

  8. You should check out my friend Kate's blog. She doesn't write very often, but she's got a wicked sense of humor I think you would really like. She's at: http://whomovedmyshoes.blogspot.com

I also love amalah.com. She's got 3 boys, the oldest of whom has some sensory disorder issues. Its a "mommy blog," but not filled with advice or philosophy or any of that stuff. Instead she writes about how she almost fed her baby cat food and almost passed out trying to shoe a bird out of her house by herself, etc. She is HYSTERICAL. She is a wise-ass and a nerd, which to me is the perfect combo.

  9. Oh no... I posted a picture of my coffee the other day! But, in my defense - I get more jazzed up over the actual travel mug. It's from my very favorite grocery store, Wegmans. They are in western NY (and now a few other eastern states) and I miss living in that region and getting to shop there. I took the shot for a FB tagging of a friend who is lucky enough to still live there. Then, since I am lazy, it made the blog, too.

  10. I read (and occasionally) comment here, but I'm not sure if you read me. We (seem) a lot alike, but you're a more frequent blogger than I am. Just thought I'd say hello.

  11. Just read your comment on my blog. :( I hope you know that me saying people should have to work hard to make babies didn't mean I think people should have to go through as much as you. I guess there isn't a right answer and it's never going to chance so ungrateful assholes will keep having babies and we just have to deal with it.

As for the other thing. I hope things start looking up. I would have done the same thing i I were you. (cryptic... I wish I could find your e-mail address!!!! I know I had it at one point!)

You should read my friend Katie's blog. You might hate her because she was an infertile with the first and then got super fertile and conceived #2 on her first try. BITCH! but she's funny and I love her.

  12. Have you ever read, "Maybe if you just relax" It's the best! Jen has struggled with IF, and both of her daughters were conceived through IVF. Her youngest (whose twin passed away at birth) is still in the hospital almost a year later. In spite of all the tragedy, Jen has a knack for smart-ass, hilarious writing. Or as she calls it "oversharing with the internet". She can be found at www.jennepper.com

I am also a big fan of YOUR blog :) Your monkies are precious and you make me laugh, what could be better?

And I am not anonymous, but it won't let me post on my google for some reason. My name is Jill and I'm the mother of two boys. I found your blog through BZ, so I'm not a total creeper. Just a little bit :)
