The purpose of the trip was to visit family members they haven't met yet. The babies have hit the grandparent jackpot. They have:
2 grandmas
2 grandpas and a step-poppo
A great papa and a great poppy
3 great grandmas
1 great-GREAT grandma!

We drove for 6 hours (7 including a one hour stop for food and stretching) to the farm.

This was them stretching out in the front seat of the car at McDonald's. There was a set of just-turned-four year old twin girls there that came up to see the twin babies. It was cute!

Since we weren't at home, we had to improvise and the babies had to take a bath in a bucket. Ocean was in a state of shock at the thought:
True to their Earth Day birthdays, they love being outdoors, so we had to invest in some new sun hats:
After spending a few days at the farm, we made an additional two day drive further in Colorado to stay for a few days in the mountains.

It was a fun trip and I was surprised at how well the babies did. They were great in the car. Only once did we have to pull over because Ever was crying so hard. She has gotten so spoiled! She only wants me to hold her all the time. Part of me loves it, and part of me has created a monster! She has been making some seriously hilarious faces and I think I might have my hands full with her:
It was so nice seeing everyone. I didn't get any extra sleep like I thought I would with all the spare hands, with the exception of a 3 hour nap on of the days last week, but I really got to enjoy my babies like I never have before. Why? Because we were staying in other people's houses! I didn't cook, clean, or anything like that. I just hung out with babies and family. Operation Win the Lottery has begun, so I can vacation all the time and have someone else clean up after me. :)
I just need to buy a ticket . . . .
I LOVE seeing al the photos! Thanks so much for sharing them. You can really see that they are developing personalities in the shots. And how lucky they are to have so many living relatives. Glad to see that traveling with the two babies was doable. We definitely plan on traveling with our twins. Love reading your blog. It always gives me lots to look forward to. So happy for you guys ;-). They are GORGEOUS!!!

ReplyDeleteOne thing I learned after our oldest daughter was born is that little babies travel very well. We were stationed in Germany with the Army and we did lots of traveling when we were there. When she was 7 months old we did a 4 day bus tour of Italy, when she was 9 months old we did a weekend in Paris, when she was 13 months old we flew back to the States to visit family (12 hour fight each way)
ReplyDeleteBefore they can move on their own is the time to get a lot of traveling in. Once they're mobile it takes traveling to a whole new level.
I'm glad you guys had such an awesome trip! I hope you were able to get a 5 generation photograph, those are priceless.
